- We source or recreate the pieceOnce approved we source the diamond, gemstone or watch, or recreate the piece from scratch using CAD and our in-house bench. You approve the design before anything is made.
- You collect it in storePick it up at Katy Mills or The Mall in Columbia, with a fresh written appraisal for your records so the new piece is properly insured from day one.

Working with your insurer
We work with customers insured through homeowners, renters and specialty jewelry policies — Jewelers Mutual, Chubb, State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Lavalier, BriteCo and others. Most policies let you choose the jeweler who does the work.
We provide the documentation adjusters ask for: itemized replacement estimates, like-kind-and-quality specifications, GIA or IGI grading reports where applicable, and a written appraisal on completion. If your adjuster needs something in a particular format, tell us and we will produce it.
Have a Jewelers Mutual claim? Ask to use Monica Jewelers as your preferred jeweler for your approved repair or replacement.
Jewelers Mutual policyholders may generally choose their own jeweler, and the insurer works directly with the jeweler you select on approved repairs and replacements. The same is usually true of homeowners and renters policies — you are rarely required to use whoever the carrier suggests first.

Do I need to come into the Columbia store?
Not to begin. Send your details through the form and we can prepare the estimate remotely. Most customers visit once, to collect.
Do you serve customers in Baltimore and Washington DC?
Yes. The Mall in Columbia sits between the two, and we regularly work with customers from Baltimore, Ellicott City, Silver Spring, Rockville, Bethesda, Annapolis and DC.
Do I have to use the jeweler my insurance company suggests?
Usually not. Most homeowners, renters and specialty jewelry policies let you choose your own jeweler for an approved repair or replacement. If you would like to use us, tell your adjuster you have selected Monica Jewelers and we will work with them directly.
What if I do not have a claim number yet?
That is fine. Many customers come to us before filing, because they need a replacement estimate to open the claim in the first place. We can prepare that for you.
What if I never had an appraisal?
We can often reconstruct the specification from photographs, an original receipt, or even a jeweler's description. Bring whatever you have — a clear photo of the piece on a hand is more useful than people expect.
How long does a replacement take?
A straightforward repair can be days. Sourcing a specific diamond or watch reference typically takes one to three weeks. A full custom recreation with CAD usually runs three to six weeks from approval.
Can I upgrade instead of replacing like for like?
Often yes. Many policies pay out a set replacement value, and you can put that toward something different and pay the difference. Tell us what you would rather have and we will price both options.
Does it cost anything to get an estimate?
No. The replacement estimate is free and there is no obligation to have the work done with us.
My piece was damaged, not lost. Can you still help?
Yes. Damage claims are a large part of what we do — bent shanks, lost stones, worn prongs, broken clasps and crash damage to watches. We will document the damage for your insurer and quote the restoration.
